The Shadow Archetype of the Prostitute is an energetic pattern we each possess. It is very important to understand this Shadow Archetype is not about the Prostitute we think of as selling her body for money.
This Archetype is about our personal Value and our Will.
What are you willing to sacrifice for love, money, security or self-expression? Some of the language you might recognize when you have stepped into Prostitute Archetype are:
- I am worthless
- I can’t afford it
- If I do this, then they will appreciate me
- I can’t afford to think like that because I won’t be accepted by my Tribe
- If I give more then they will love me
- I feel taken advantage of
- I have to swallow my feelings, shame or guilt
These are just a few statements the Prostitute might make when activated in your system.
Sometimes this shadow shows up as co-dependancy, which I would say most people have experienced on some level. I know I have and I am continually learning to step out of Prostitute. Co-dependancy symptoms are low self-esteem, people-pleasing, poor boundaries, caretaking to the point of self-destruction of one’s self, feeling like you have to control everything in your environment, and being dependent on other people and worrying about whether or not they will like you.
In Emotional Anatomy, this archetype can be found most often in the throat.
The throat chakra is the energy center of our will and assertiveness.
Are you able to stand up for yourself in situations…relationships, finances, sex life, business, and general conversations?
Clearing your throat, excessive laughing, clenching of the jaw or swallowing your feelings, and thyroid issues are some examples of the body getting activated by the Prostitute Archetype. The throat chakra forms a bridge between the head and body, the mind and heart.
When it is open there is clear communication between the heart and mind. You allow wisdom and compassion to your thoughts and feelings, allowing give and take.
Being mindful of your inner dialogue will help you shift out of Prostitute and into Power over yourself.
You are the ultimate decision-maker in your life. You are in control of your own Queendom/Kingdom and no one else has power over you.
Value your own worth by expressing your needs and your opinions no matter what other people might think of you.
This takes practice and sometimes support from a qualified individual.
